Sam has flown spaceships for LucasFilm, led Emmy-award-winning video game platform teams at Microsoft, and built and sold multiple game companies in Hollywood and beyond. Two of these studios were in the field of medical games – unleashing videogame tech and neuroscience on healthcare. Sam led teams of veteran game devs and designers to establish a new genre of medical games: pushing the limits of game design, physics, and rendering to capture the most crucial challenges of medicine. 20 out of the top 40 medical device and pharmaceutical companies now use game technology to train and sell their products – and Sam’s companies’ games have been adopted by leading medical societies – and NASA – to disseminate the latest guidelines and techniques for topics ranging from COVID to space health. Through this work, Sam is rapidly establishing ‘play’ as a fundamental force accelerating adoption in medicine. In 2025, Sam joined Sheba Hospital’s ARC group as an advisor on emerging healthtech initiatives. At Sheba, Sam is responsible for using GenAI and game tech to solve problems in medicine, and for engaging with Israel’s rapidly-growing videogames industry to create a blueprint for collaboration between healthcare and games worldwide.
